GFS Marketplace Opens in Franklin

Oct. 12, 2012

GFS Marketplace will officially open on Tuesday, Oct. 16th with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:00 a.m. The new store is located at 6919 South 27th St., Franklin. Franklin Mayor Tom Taylor will be attending the ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new location along with South Suburban Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Barbara Wesener. At the ribbon cutting, GFS Marketplace will present a $1,000 donation to Human Concerns of South Milwaukee.

GFS Marketplace offers a unique shopping alternative for retail and wholesale consumers. Customers can shop without membership and purchase restaurant quality items at excellent prices. The welcoming footprint of the nearly 16,000 square foot GFS Marketplace store and expert advice available from the staff distinguishes GFS Marketplace from traditional grocery and big box bulk food stores.

GFS Marketplace has Wisconsin stores in Kenosha, Racine, West Milwaukee and Madison.
“We are excited to be opening our fifth store in Wisconsin and believe GFS Marketplace is the perfect fit for Franklin and the surrounding communities,” said Jay Zylstra, President. “GFS Marketplace customers in West Milwaukee, Kenosha, Racine and Madison have quickly learned about our exceptional customer service and unique product offerings for businesses, organizations and families. Now residents of Franklin will be able to discover that as well.”

After the ribbon cutting, the celebration will continue with a week of grand opening festivities through Oct. 20th. There will be food tastings each day and shoppers can enter for a chance to win a $300 shopping spree. Shoppers will have an opportunity to sample some of GFS Marketplace’s most popular items at their Giant Taste Fest which will be held on Friday, Oct. 19th and Saturday, Oct. 20th.

The new GFS Marketplace location will employ approximately 35 people including store manager Janelle Palinski.
GFS Marketplace will be open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

GFS Marketplace is headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan and is the largest family owned distributor of foodservice products to restaurants, schools and good service operators in the country. Its GFS Marketplace Stores, which began in 1979, offer products and services for a broad range of customers; including restaurants, caterers, schools and daycares, churches and non-profit organizations, families and more.
