Behind seven championships, including two for Aaron Cronin and three for relay teams, West Allis Hale captured the crown in its own invitational on May 16.

The Huskies tallied 1351/2 points to top New Berlin West with 122 points, West Allis Central with 117 points and Whitnall with 103 points in the 10-team meet.

"It was a solid step in the right direction for our team," Hale head coach John Dewitt said. "It's always nice to win an invite, especially when it is at home. The guys stepped up today; it was fun to watch."

Central head coach Mark Klobukowski also had reason to be pleased.

"We finished third in a tight race," Klobukowski said. "We again had some great performances as a team, which we like to see this time of year as we prepare for regionals."

Cronin wins twice

Cronin paced Hale by winning both the shot put with 47 feet-21/2 inches and the discus at 137-9.

Other individual victories for the Huskies came from Joey Werner in the 300-meter hurdles at 42.26 seconds and Kevin Reed in the 1,500-meter steeplechase with 5 minutes, 9.45 seconds.

Taking firsts for Central were Kion Criswell in the 200 dash at 23.01 and Josh Boeder in the pole vault with a personal-best 14-6.

"Kion keeps shaving time off (the 200) and has the opportunity to keep doing this," Klobukowski said. "Josh is a four-year vaulter who is coached by his father Jeff. Josh is putting everything together and really focusing his sights on being on top."
