Greenfield girls swimming
Esmeralda Perez placed second in the 100 butterfly with 1 minute, 2.75 seconds at the Woodland Conference Meet on Saturday.
Earning fifth for the Hustlin' Hawks were Elisa Perez in the 500 freestyle (5:36.17) and the 200 medley relay team of Sienna Bast, Brooke Charles, Esmeralda Perez and Elisa Perez (2:00.25).
Coming in seventh were Bast in the 100 backstroke (1:05.41) and Charles in the 100 breaststroke (1:17.32). Esmeralda Perez snared eighth in the 100 freestyle (58.87).
The 200 freestyle group of Alexis Jordan, Cayla Mrnik, Charles and Phoebe Muszynski claimed 10th (1:58.81). Taking 11th were Elisa Perez in the 200 freestyle (2:09.61) and the 400 freestyle unit of Elisa Perez, Bast, Charles and Esmeralda Perez (4:08.46). Bast seized 12th in the 200 individual medley (2:32.33).
The Hawks, who tallied 133 points for ninth place, will compete in a WIAA Division 1 sectional at Kenosha at 2 p.m. Saturday.
West Allis girls swimming
Olivia Harders snared eighth place in the 500 freestyle at the Greater Metro Conference meet Saturday in 6 minutes, 5.64 seconds.
Coming in 10th for the Wave were Ashley Elder in diving (255.8 points), the 200 freestyle unit of Harders, Heather Garland, Meghan Pfeiffer and Brianna Kulas (2:01.03) and the 400 freestyle group of Tara Kelley, Nikki Brand, Molly Sykes and Paulina Fortis (4:54.47).
Placing 11th were the 200 medley squad of Garland, Jamie Trapp, Kulas and Harders (2:19.77) and the 400 freestyle set of Cortney Wery, Trapp, Sydney Jewell and Becky Simet (5:25.1).
Taking 12th were the 200 medley unit of Pfeiffer, Sykes, Jessica Drews and Fortis (2:29.59) and the 200 freestyle corps of Wery, Brittany House, Ally Brunner and Jewell (2:18.45).
West Allis finished sixth with 101 points.
"The girls really didn't have their best day, although several had season-best times," coach Carl Kaiser said.
The Wave will take part in a WIAA Division 1 sectional meet at Waukesha South at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Whitnall boys cross country
Sophomore Alex Richardson finished 70th in 16 minutes, 59 seconds in the WIAA Division 1 State Meet on Saturday at Wisconsin Rapids.
Richardson placed in the top half of the field of 190 runners on the Ridges Golf Course.
Hale-Central boys volleyball
The Huskies downed the Bulldogs, 25-17, 25-16, 25-22, in a WIAA regional championship match on Friday at Central.
The Bulldogs played without setter Josh Kopplin, who sustained an ankle injury. Chris Schwartz collected eight kills, Dane Travers 18 assists and Najeal McMillan four blocks for the Bulldogs, whose season ended.
The Huskies went on to face top-seed Marquette on Tuesday. The winner plays in a sectional title match today, Nov. 3, at Pius XI.
Greenfield boys volleyball
The Hustlin' Hawks' season ended with a 25-12, 25-14, 25-13 loss to Racine Case in a WIAA regional title matchFriday.
"It was a rough night," coach Kurt Kaempfer said. "We just didn't play well. It was a matter of inexperience."
