WEST ALLIS GYMNASTICS
The local team had its troubles in a dual against Grafton on Dec. 18.
Haley Gagliano continued to struggle with back pain and Sydnee Tomczak had a rare off meet, head coach Amanda Kohnke said.
"I know everyone has off days, but this meet was extremely off," Kohnke said. "Sydnee looked amazing in warmups, and I really thought this was going to be a great meet, but it did not pan out that way.
"Sydnee did not land either vault the way she did in practice and did not complete a full routine for bars."
West Allis did have a solid finish to the meet.
Tomczak did post a 9.05 in floor exercise and Maggie Pomerenke landed her highest score in floor with 8.1.
Gagliano, Mackenzie Scherer and Marlea Mastropolo all completed solid routines, Kohnke said.
"We ended on a positive note and agreed to never have this rough of a meet again," she said.
West Allis is off until Jan. 15, when it visits Menomonee Falls.
