WEST ALLIS BOYS TENNIS
Enrico Arduini will play in the WIAA Division 1 State Individual Meet this weekend in Madison.
The junior qualified by placing fourth at first singles in a sectional meet on May 29 at Wauwatosa West.
Arduini takes a 13-3 record to Nielsen Stadium in Madison, and he will take on David Sinense of Marquette (7-3) at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 5.
If he wins, he would face another Greater Metro Conference foe, either Alex Rokosz of Marquette (12-12) or Danny Schoen of Brookfield Central (16-16) at 3:30 p.m. that day.
Arduini is the only West Allis entry to reach the sectional, as all others lost in a subsectional on May 27. West Allis tallied six points for 10th place in the sectional.
HALE BOYS GOLF
Andrew Riedel and Derrick Oleson both advanced to WIAA Division 1 sectional play this week.
Riedel fired an 82 and Oleson 85 in a regional meet on May 27 at Wanaki. They qualified for a sectional on Tuesday, June 3 at Edgewood Golf Course.
Hale tallied 356 shots in the regional to place sixth and post its best 18-hole team score of the season.
Eric Petoskey shot a 92, Devin Unger 97 and Ryan Petoskey 98 for the Huskies.
GREENFIELD BOYS GOLF
Ben Wachniak fired an 86 to take a share of 10th place in a WIAA Division 1 regional on May 27 at Brown Deer Golf Club and qualify for sectional action.
Wachniak played in a sectional at Brightondale on Wednesday, June 4.
Also for the Hustlin' Hawks in the regional, Ryan Hensiak shot 94, Hannah Flees 99, Kyle Holmes 100 and Ben Fularczyk 101.
Greenfield totaled 379 strokes for sixth place.
A tremendous season came to a disappointing end for the Falcons with a 7-5 loss to New Berlin Eisenhower in a WIAA Division 2 regional title game on May 29.
The Falcons led 3-2 early in the contest but fell behind 6-3 going into the bottom of the fifth. Lara Stachowski belted a two-run home run to draw her team within 6-5, but Whitnall could not score after that.
The Falcons outhit the Lions 10-5 as Sydney Opdahl doubled and homered and Sierra Grubor went 3-for-4.
Whitnall had downed Wisconsin Lutheran 10-4 in the semifinal game on May 28.
The Falcons trailed 1-0 before rallying for six runs in the second. Valeri Nowak crushed a three-run home run and Opdahl lined a two-run double to key the outburst.
Whitnall added three in the fourth with a two-run single from Kim Robinson, who was 2-for-3 on the day. Liz Thon went 4-for-4 with three RBIs and Nowak and Opdahl each had two hits.
Alex Cimler picked up the victory, working 51/3 innings for the Falcons, who finished 24-4 on the season.
GREENFIELD BOYS TENNIS
Singles player Kurt Storvik and the doubles team of Petar Crnogorac and Sirindhi Emkay both reached a WIAA Division 1 sectional meet on May 29.
Storvik lost his first match at first singles, and the first doubles team also dropped the first match to finish 9-3 on the season.
The Hustlin' Hawks tallied 12 points for seventh place in the team standings.
WHITNALL BOYS TENNIS
Chris Kelnhofer and Cam Clark both took part in WIAA Division 2 sectional play on May 29 at Brown Deer.
Kelnhofer finished fourth at third singles and went 17-8 on the season, while Clark came in third at fourth singles and was 20-3.
Whitnall tallied 13 points for sixth place in the team sectional standings.
WHITNALL BOYS GOLF
The Falcons totaled 406 strokes to place seventh in a WIAA Division 1 regional meet on May 27 at Brown Deer Golf Club.
Austin Jenk and Tyler Merritt both fired 99's for the Falcons, while Brett Abramczyk shot 102, Austin Brault 106 and Kyle Radavich 108.
CENTRAL BOYS GOLF
The Bulldogs tallied 389 shots for seventh place in a WIAA Division 1 regional meet at Wanaki on May 27.
Jared Welsch paced Central with a 95, while Jason Welsch and Eric Owens both fired a 96, Donovan Dykstra 102 and Adam Schroeder 110.
The Huskies tallied two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to tip Wauwatosa East 10-9 in a WIAA Division 1 regional game on May 28.
Brianna Bolskar and Melanie Miller each drove in three runs, while Lexi Sevedge had three hits and Julie Palesse two hits.
The Huskies then fell 10-0 to Greater Metro Conference champion Menomonee Falls on May 29 to end their season. They managed just two hits off Falls ace Kelly Berglund.
The Bulldogs' season ended with an 11-1 loss to Waukesha North on May 28 in a WIAA Division 1 regional game.
Central scored a run in the top of the first inning and North was only up 4-1 until the fifth inning before breaking open the contest.
WHITNALL GIRLS SOCCER
The injury-plagued Falcons lost 1-0 games to Greendale on May 27 and New Berlin Eisenhower on May 29.
The Panthers tallied in the 68th minute and the Lions in the 80th minute to win. Zora Marinkovich tallied seven saves against Eisenhower.
"The girls played particularly well and played together against Ike," head coach Robert Antholine said.
