West Allis gymnastics
Emily Fuchs was the runner-up at the Greater Metro/North Shore conference meet at Menomonee Falls on Friday, helping the West Allis co-op take second of nine teams.
Fuchs' total of 36.3 was second only to Whitefish Bay's Maggie Anderson's 36.325.
Fuchs and teammate Brenna Tomczak tied for third on the vault with identical 9.05s and Fuchs also placed second on the beam with a 9.175.
West Allis finished with 138.075 points, just behind champion Bay's 141.4.
The co-op competes in the sectional at 11 a.m. Saturday at Arrowhead. The top two teams advance to the state tournament.
West Allis Central boys basketball
A six-point deficit in the second overtime prevented the Bulldogs from snapping their long losing streak against Brookfield Central.
The host Bulldogs lost for the 13th straight time to the Lancers, this time, 69-63, Friday.
The Bulldogs (9-12, 4-9) used a 15-8 run in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 51-51.
Brookfield Central's Alex Diciaula had a game-high 25 points to help offset a balanced West Allis Central attack that included 14 points from Anthony Harris, 13 from Darvell Brown and 10 from Nick Starich.
It was the third straight loss for the Bulldogs, who fell to 2-1 in overtime games this season.
Central, seeded 11th, will play at sixth-seeded Racine Horlick at 7 p.m. Tuesday in a regional semifinal.
West Allis Hale girls basketball
The Huskies mounted a strong comeback to pick up their second win of the season.
Hale (2-18, 1-12) fell behind, 14-3, after one quarter and trailed, 27-24, after three before outscoring host Waukesha North, 17-9, in the fourth to pull out a 41-36 victory Feb. 16.
Jennifer Wellnitz scored a game-high 15 points and three Huskies - Racheal Bekeris, Jennifer Stawicki and Brittany Witt - chipped in eight apiece.
Three nights later, Wellnitz poured in 14 but Hale fell well short in a 53-32 home loss to Hamilton.
Greenfield girls basketball
Kristina Vidakovich was one of three Hustlin' Hawks to reach double figures as Greenfield snapped a 14-game losing streak with a 56-29 home win over Milwaukee Ronald Reagan on Feb. 16.
Vidakovich scored a game-high 17, followed by Jessica Manzuk's season-high 14 and Amber Polachek's 11, also a season-high.
The Hawks outscored their guests, 10-2, after one quarter and never looked back.
Greenfield could not keep the good times rolling in a 46-21 loss at South Milwaukee on Friday. The Hawks were outscored, 17-0, in the third quarter.
Greenfield boys basketball
Despite 18 points from freshman point guard Ricky Santiago, the Hawks' losing streak reached four games with a 65-61 defeat to visiting South Milwaukee on Friday.
Alec Molter chipped in 13 points and Nate Rios (11) and Austin Jacobsen (nine) combined for 20 in the losing effort.
Molter had a game-high 21 three nights earlier in Greenfield's 70-48 loss at Whitnall.
Santiago added 12 and Nathan Jetzin had a season-high 11 for the Hawks (6-15, 5-11), who are seeded 13th and will play at fourth-seeded Whitnall in a regional semifinal at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
West Allis Hale boys basketball
A rough second quarter paved the way to Hale's 43rd straight loss, this one a 64-45 defeat at Sussex Hamilton on Friday.
The Huskies led, 14-12, after one period before being outscored, 17-3, in the second.
Ben Rachow had 13 points for Hale (0-21, 0-13), which will play at second-seeded Racine Park at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The Huskies are seeded 15th.
Whitnall girls basketball
Whitnall was overwhelmed by conference champion New Berlin Eisenhower, 50-17, on the road Saturday.
The Falcons (5-12, 5-10) made just six shots from the field, scored no more than five points in any quarter and lost their fourth straight game.
Eisenhower's Nicole Bauman scored a game-high 11 points.
