West Allis Central football
Jon Green scored three touchdowns and quarterback Ryan Barwick tossed two touchdown passes to Nick Starich to lead West Allis Central to a 42-6 win over Wauwatosa East at Hart Park.
Green scored on runs of 2 and 8 yards and then Barwick hit Starich for a 21-0 lead after one quarter. Barwick and Starich connected again in the second quarter for a 28-0 halftime lead.
Green scored on a 1-yard run and Cory Sigler scored on a 19-yard run in the third and fourth quarters. Barwick kicked all six extra-points.
The Bulldogs finished 3-4, tied for fourth with Brookfield Central, to whom they lost, and West Allis Hale, who they beat. They were 5-4 overall, their first winning season since 2006, when they had an identical record.
West Allis Central cross country
Alex Gonzales and Abigail Pranghofer qualified for the WIAA Division 1 state meet on Saturday at the Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids.
Gonzales finished eighth in 16 minutes, 37 seconds and was the fifth and final individual to qualify for the boys at the Brookfield Central Sectional last Saturday.
Pranghofer took 11th (15:39) and was the fourth out of five individual qualifiers for the girls.
The girls finished seventh with 193 points. Whitefish Bay took first with 28 points.
Liz Lindner finished 36th (16:31) followed by Michaela Hubmann, 37th (16:35), Katie Larson, (16:54), Nicole Larsen, 63rd (17:14), Kelsie Cullen, 69th (17:24) and Hannah Henry, 78th (18:07).
The boys finished ninth with 236 points as Marquette ran away with the victory (43).
Justin Brant finished 44th (17:51) and Casey Muszytowski took 51st (17:59). Isaac Millen followed in 65th (18:35), Donald Dargan, 68th (18:44), Brandon Schuk, 75th (19:26) and Joel Anich, 77th (20:09).
West Allis Central girls volleyball
The West Allis Central girls volleyball team saw its season come to and end in the regional semifinals at Brookfield Central on Oct. 22.
Host Brookfield Central defeated West Allis Central in three games (25-9, 25-14, 25-21). There were no individual stats available.
Hale cross country
The West Allis Hale boys and girls team did not qualify any individuals for the state cross country meet Saturday at Ridges Golf Course at Wisconsin Rapids.
Hale boys finished seventh with 171 points at the Brookfield Central Sectional at Mitchell Park last Saturday. Marquette won the event with 43 points.
Alex Murray led the Huskies with a 23rd-place finish in 17 minutes, 22 seconds, just ahead of Milan Stojanovic, who was 27th (17:27). It was a personal-best for Murray. Jacob Ebben was 34th (17:39), Sawyer Wickersham, 39th (17:46), Sam Gagliano, 48th (17:57), Eric Resch, 53rd (18:01) and Paul Musta, 62nd (18:18).
Hale was 11th (234) out of 12 teams, as Whitefish Bay won easily with 28 points.
Kayla Pasko was the top finisher the girls taking 26th place (16:18), but the Huskies' next highest finishers were Elizabeth Elliott at 43rd (16:39) and Alyssa Drajkowski at 44th (16:43).
Jenny Rechlicz took 60th (17:10), Jessica Trapp, 61st (17:11) and Virginia Wightma, 73rd (17:37).
Greenfield girls volleyball
Greenfield's season came to an end when it lost in the second round of regionals at second-seeded Franklin on Oct. 24 in a 25-14, 25-17, 22-25, 26-24 decision.
Greenfield was the seven seed in its bracket and beat Racine Park in four games (25-19, 25-27, 25-16, 25-17) in the first round of regionals.
Whitnall cross country
The Whitnall boys earned a fifth-place finish at their own sectional Saturday, which was won by Waukesha West.
Mitch Olson led Whitnall with a 12th-place finish in 17:36.70. Rob Emmett was 15th in 17:43.80, Jake Lehmann was 17th in 17:46.60, Jack Kasprzak was 32nd in 18:06.00, Jacob Kujawa was 42 in 18:31.20, Eric Windt was 43rd in 18:32.20 and Brian Beal was 51st in 18:56.30. Waukesha South's Mike Clark won the race in 16:37.
Whitnall's girls placed eighth overall and were led by Dana Steffen, who was 10th in 15:38. Other finishers were Mary Erickson (25th, 16:41.10), Katherine Crivello (35th, 17:01.90), Lindsey Lent (49th, 17:49.40), Carly Cardenas (60th, 18:25.80), Haley Just (66th, 18:47.20) and Sara Mogensen (19:12.90).
Nathan Hale girls volleyball
Sixth-seeded Hale earned a first-round victory over visiting Whitnall before falling to Brookfield Central, 25-6, 25-13, 25-16, in a regional final game Saturday that ended the Huskies' season.
Hale defeated Whitnall, 25-19, 19-25, 27-25, 21-25, 17-15, in the tournament opened Oct. 22.
The Huskies ended their season with a 42-7 loss to visiting Marquette on Oct 21.
The powerhouse Hilltoppers built a 28-0 halftime lead in the Greater Metro Conference game and extended their second-half margin to 42-0 before Hale's Ben Koeppen scored on a 5-yard run to get the Huskies on the board.
Marquette improved to 9-0 overall and 7-0 in the GMC and earned a No. 1 postseason seed. Hale finished 3-6 and 3-4 in the conference.
The Hawks downed St. Thomas More, 88-60, in a crossover meet Oct. 21.
Both the 200-yard free relay and 200 medley relay took first and included Lindsay Bakken, Esme Perez, Sienna Bast, Nicole Lederich and Ellen Campbell.
Individual firsts included Bast in the 200 and 500 free, Perez in the 50 free and 100 fly and Marina Avila in the 100 breaststroke.
