Behind two first-place finishes, the Greenfield girls swimming team tied for fifth in the Panther Relays at Racine Park on Saturday.
Lexi Kirkpatrick, Claudia Kirkpatrick, Sydney Fricker and Brooke Charles teamed to win the 300-yard breaststroke in 3 minutes, 46.48 seconds, while Claudia Kirkpatrick, Charles, Elisa Perez and Cayla Mrnik prevailed in the 400 medley relay with 4:32.39.
Those two teams helped the Hustlin' Hawks tie New Berlin West for fifth place with 184 points in the 12-team meet, which was won by Kenosha Tremper with 254 points.
The 300 backstroke unit of Miranda Witt, Perez, Mrnik and Claudia Kirkpatrick placed third at 3:21.79.
Taking fifth were Lexi Kirkpatrick, Fricker, Olivia Misorski and Charles in the 400 individual medley (5:11.17) and Mariah Misko, Misorski, Lexi Kirkpatrick and Perez in the 300 butterfly (3:31.99).
The 200 medley group of Witt, Fricker, Misko and Amanda Karges came in seventh (2:23.58) and the 800 freestyle team of Witt, Phoebe Muszynski, Morgan Borchardt and Alli Roetz took eighth (10:36.9).
"Although a number of our newer swimmers are showing tremendous improvement," head coach Dale Schrank said, "many of our seasoned veterans are having trouble with their second and third events. I am optimistic, however, that we will get that part of our meet performance under control."
The Greenfield diving team of Natalie Hoffman, Veronika Blada and Misko took seventh with 176.45 points.
"This is the first time in 25 years that Greenfield was able to field a diving team, and we were able to do it in an 11-dive format," diving coach Cheryl Weber said. "It is hard to believe that less than four weeks ago, the team had no divers and certainly had no chance of entering an 11-dive meet."
The Hawks are next at the South Milwaukee Relays on Sept. 14.
