Adam, Kern to be honored with hoops squad

Jeff Adam of Greenfield, a Whitnall High School graduate, and Bill Kern of Franklin were both part of the unbeaten 1994-95 University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's basketball team, which will be honored May 5.

The Platteville squad will be inducted in its entirety into the university's Athletic Hall of Fame at 2 p.m. that day, becoming just the second team in school history to receive the honor.

Adam was a player on the team, while Kern was a team manager.

Platteville, which was coached by Bo Ryan, went 31-0 that season, beating Manchester College of Indiana, 69-55, in the NCAA Division III title contest. Manchester was coached by Steve Alford, the former Indiana University star and recently-named UCLA head coach.

Tickets for the ceremony can be purchased by calling the alumni office at (608) 342-1181 or e-mailing alumni@uwplatt.edu.
