Police Report: Sept. 25

Sept. 25, 2012

BURGLARY

Copper materials were taken from the basement of a locked residence in the 4200 block of South 84th Street between Sept. 15 and 2 p.m. Sept. 17. A rear storm door was pried open.

A home in the 12200 block of West Whitaker Avenue was broken into prior to 9 p.m. Sept. 18. The homeowner arrived home and found the back door of his house open and broken glass on his patio from a smashed patio door. It was unknown if anything was taken from the home.

An unknown number of items were taken from several storage lockers in the 9000 block of West Waterford Square North prior to 10:40 a.m. Sept. 20. One of the victims located his missing property, which was taken by another resident. Police arrested a male juvenile for burglary.

THEFT

Coins were taken from an unlocked vehicle in the 4000 block of South 43rd Street between late evening Sept.16 and 8:30 a.m. Sept. 17. A second vehicle in the same block was also rummaged through, but nothing was reported missing.

A handicap placard and a gym bag containing clothing and medication were taken from an unlocked vehicle in the 8500 block of West Cold Spring Road between the evening of Sept. 16 and 9:45 a.m. Sept. 17.

A dark green Honda Accord was taken from the 4300 block of South 43rd Street at 10:15 a.m. Sept. 17. The suspect, an unidentified white male, fled westbound on Bottsford Avenue.

A digital media player and a flashlight were taken from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 4000 block of South 43rd Street between the evening hours of Sept. 16 and noon Sept. 17. A second unlocked vehicle was also entered and rummaged through, but nothing was damaged or reported missing.

A 1989 GMC pickup truck was taken from a lot in the 3800 block of West Loomis Road between Sept. 15 and 12:50 p.m. Sept. 17.

A class ring was taken at Greenfield Public Library, 5310 W. Layton Ave., prior to 2:45 p.m. Sept. 17.

An unidentified suspect shoplifted a desktop computer at h.h. gregg, 4585 S. 76th St., at 4:09 p.m. Sept. 16. The theft was captured on video surveillance. Police are investigating.

Mail, including two gift cards and an iPhone cover that had a confirmed delivery notice, was taken from a mailbox at a residence in the 4100 block of South 97th Street prior to 8 a.m. Sept. 18. The thefts occurred on at least three occasions since August.

A 23-year-old man was arrested for shoplifting $18 worth of liquor at Pick 'n Save, 4279 S. 76th St., shortly after noon Sept. 18.

A locker was pried open and the contents of a wallet were taken at Regency Beauty Institute, 7995 W. Layton Ave., on Sept. 15.

A purse was taken from an unlocked vehicle in the 4400 block of South 108th Street prior to 2 p.m. Sept. 18.

An umbrella was taken off a patio set at a residence in the 3200 block of West Lynndale Avenue prior to 2:25 p.m. Sept. 18.

A 46-year-old man was arrested for shoplifting Bluetooth headsets and a computer charging kit at Best Buy, 4610 S. 76th St., at 4:10 p.m. Sept. 18. The same man was also identified as a suspect who shoplifted a laptop computer off a display the evening of Sept. 17. He was arrested and cited for two counts of retail theft.

A tan-colored purse was taken from a locked vehicle in the parking lot at Crawford Animal Hospital, 4607 S. 108th St., between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Sept. 18. The driver's side door lock was broken to gain access.

A camera was taken from a vehicle in the 4700 block of West Tesch Avenue between Sept. 14 and Sept. 17.

A digital media player and charging cables were taken from an unlocked car in the 6500 block of West Layton Avenue between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Sept. 20.

A car was rummaged through and lawn ornaments were taken from a residence in the 8900 block of West Bottsford Avenue between the evening of Sept. 19 and early morning Sept. 20.

A 35-year-old man was arrested for shoplifting computer software at Best Buy, 4610 S. 76th St., at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 20.

Three bicycles were taken from a backyard in the 4300 block of West Morgan Avenue prior to 8:35 a.m. Sept. 21.

A pipe was taken from the men's restroom at Arby's, 4280 S. 76th St., at 7:10 p.m. Sept. 22.

A 23-year-old man was arrested for stealing a tablet computer from a residence in the 4800 block of West Howard Avenue at 11:45 a.m. Sept. 23.

A patio table and chairs were taken from a residence in the 4200 block of South 61st Street between noon and 3:30 p.m. Sept. 23.

An unidentified female shoplifted a jacket and pair of pants at the North Face store, 4350 S. 76th St., at 4 p.m. Sept. 23. The suspect and two other females fled in a gold PT Cruiser that was waiting for them to exit the store. Police are investigating.

A Dodge Neon was taken from a parking lot in the 3800 block of South Miner Street between 1:30 p.m. Sept. 22 and 10:30 a.m. Sept. 23.

Asthma medication, a cellphone and charger, and CDs were taken from a vehicle parked at Olive Garden, 4760 S. 76th St., prior to 7:50 p.m. Sept. 23.

DRUG POSSESSION

A 27-year-old man was arrested for possession of synthetic marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the 3000 block of West American Drive at 5:45 p.m. Sept. 17.

A 26-year-old man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia in the 5000 block of West Forest Home Avenue at 6:45 p.m. Sept. 20.

DRUNKEN DRIVING

A 30-year-old man was arrested for drunken driving in the drive-thru at McDonald's, 4275 S. 27th St., at 1:20 a.m. Sept. 20. His preliminary blood alcohol content was unavailable.

A 36-year-old man was arrested for drunken driving after a manager reported a man passed out in his car in the drive-thru at McDonald's, 4275 S. 27th St., at 4:15 a.m. Sept. 23. His preliminary BAC was unavailable.

VANDALISM

Five soffit heads were damaged on the south shelter that is currently under construction at Dan Jansen Park, 5151 W. Layton Ave., between the evening of Sept. 14 and 1 p.m. Sept. 17.

A window on a Time Warner Cable truck was smashed while it was parked in the 4900 block of South Heritage Drive between 12:20 p.m. and 12:40 p.m. Sept. 22.

OTHER

A 24-year-old man was arrested for disorderly conduct after he was seen urinating on the corner of 39th Street and Howard Avenue at 5:55 p.m. Sept. 17.

Greenfield police responded to one domestic violence call and assisted with four rescue calls between Sept. 17 and Sept. 23.
