Police Report: March 11

March 11, 2014

ROBBERY

· A masked unidentified male robbed Arby's Restaurant, 4841 S. 27th St., at 6:45 p.m. March 5. According to employees, the suspect — described as a white and wearing a black ski mask and a blue jean jacket with white sleeves — kept his hands in his pockets the entire time, implying he had a gun and demanded money. He got away with $180 and fled from the business on foot. It was unknown if he had a vehicle waiting for him or parked nearby.

· An unidentified male attempted to rob Suntan City, 6160 W. Layton Ave., at about 8:25 p.m. March 6. The suspect — described as white, in his 20s, 5 feet 5 inches tall with a stocky build, and wearing a black ski mask, a navy blue long-sleeved shirt/coat, dark sweat pants and at least one dark-colored glove — had one hand in his pocket and was holding onto what he claimed to be a gun in the other hand when he walked into the business and demanded money. The suspect fled on foot without obtaining anything.

THEFT

· A men's jacket was taken while it was hanging over a chair at Mad Dog Saloon, 4395 S. 76th St., prior to 2:10 a.m. March 6. The victim's keys were inside his jacket pocket and were also taken.

· A digital media player was taken at Whitnall High School, 5000 S. 116th St., prior to 11:25 a.m. March 7.

· A Illinois dealer license plate was taken off vehicle in the 5000 block of South Greenbrook Terrace prior to 2:20 p.m. March 7.

· An unidentified female shoplifted hair extensions at Sally Beauty Supply, 4260 S. 76th St., and then fled in a car at 2:35 p.m. March 7.

· A purse was taken out of a locked vehicle in the 4200 block of South 27th Street prior to 6:25 p.m. March 7. A window was smashed for entry.

· Four tires were taken off a vehicle at Honda City, 3450 S. 108th St., prior to 9:30 a.m. March 8. The vehicle was found up on blocks.

· A 2012 Honda CRV was taken off the lot at Honda City, 3450 S. 108th St., at 9:55 a.m. March 8. An employee stated the vehicle, and one set of keys, have been missing since March 5.

· A Coach purse and a tablet computer were taken at Burger King, 4555 W. Forest Home Ave., prior to 7 p.m. March 8.

DRUG POSSESSION

· A man was arrested for possession of narcotics, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct in the 3900 block of South 92nd Street at 7:20 p.m. March 4. The man had allegedly physically assaulted his girlfriend while they were driving in a car and then took her cellphone and fled.

· A woman was arrested for possession of narcotics with intent to deliver and was taken into custody for bail jumping when police found 53 oxycodone pills in her possession after she was arrested for shoplifting at Pick 'n Save, 4279 S. 76th St., at 7:50 p.m. March 5.

· A male suspect was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia in the 6400 block of West English Meadows Drive at 1:30 a.m. March 7.

· A male suspect was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia after he was pulled over and cited for multiple traffic violations on South 108th Street and West Oklahoma Avenue at 9:50 p.m. March 8. A passenger in his car was also cited for underage drinking and was released to a responsible adult.

ACCIDENTS

· A 16-year-old boy was arrested for hit and run after the vehicle he was driving struck another vehicle on South 60th Street and West Layton Avenue at about 4:15 p.m. March 6. A motorist who witnessed the incident followed the suspect's vehicle to the 6900 block of West Forest Home Avenue, where he was taken into custody by police.

· A girl was arrested for hit and run after vehicle she was driving struck an occupied vehicle in the 5000 block of South 76th Street at about 5:25 p.m. March 9. She was located at Boston Store in Brookfield Square, where she was taken into custody.

VANDALISM

· A front left headlight was smashed on a car in the 8800 block of West Waterford Square prior to 9:05 a.m. March 8.

OTHER

· A man was arrested for endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon after he drove up next to a vehicle, rolled down his window and pointed a gun at the driver while both vehicles were driving southbound in the 4500 block of South 27th Street at about 6:35 p.m. March 5. The suspect, who was located in Milwaukee, told police he showed the weapon because he felt "threatened" by the other driver.

· A man was arrested for obstructing police, trespassing and a valid warrant through the Whitewater Police Department after a disturbance at Southwest YMCA, 11311 W. Howard Ave., at 8:30p.m. March 5. An employee called to report the man, who was on their "denied access" list, was in the building and refused to leave.

· A secretary from Maple Grove Elementary School, 6921 W. Cold Spring Road, called police after the principal requested two officers speak to two students who were playing a game that was not appropriate for the school grounds at 8:40 a.m. March 7. The children told police they were playing a "cop" game, which was part of their normal play. Both students were advised by police about using inappropriate words on the playground.

· A manager called police after receiving several complaints from customers that a man was using some sort of drug paraphernalia inside McDonald's, 4275 S. 27th St., at about 12:30 p.m. March 7. The subject was located in the 2600 block of West Bolivar Avenue and police found he was using an electronic cigarette, so the report of drug use was unfounded.

· A resident called police dispatch to report a woman was driving an unlicensed scooter on the wrong side of the street while walking a dog on a leash in the 10300 block of West Howard Avenue at 2:50 p.m. March 7. The caller told dispatch that not only should the woman not be riding in the road with an unlicensed scooter, but she is also making the dog run alongside her so fast it doesn't have time to stop and urinate. The caller said the woman does this every day. Police were unable to locate the woman and dog.

· One male suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct at about 6:40 p.m. March 7 following an incident on South 68th Street and West Forest Home Avenue. Officers had been responding to a report from a woman that six males had just smashed out her car windows while screaming at her. The other suspects ran from the scene and scattered, and police were unable to locate them.

· Greenfield police responded to one domestic violence call and assisted with five rescue calls and one fire call between March 3 and March 9.
