Police Report: July 24

ROBBERY

An unidentified male suspect forcibly took an elderly woman's purse in the parking lot at Pick 'n Save, 4279 S. 76th St., shortly before 8:30 a.m. July 20. The suspect, described as a tall, thin black male in his 20s with a pierced left ear and wearing a doo-rag and a tan shirt, fled the scene in a dark blue vehicle.

BURGLARY

Change was taken from a vehicle parked in an unlocked garage in the 3100 block of South 46th Street between 12:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. July 17.

A front door handle was broken off and a small window pane was also broken prior to 8:55 a.m. July 18 on a house that is for sale in the 4900 block of West Bottsford Avenue. Nothing was missing reported missing from inside the home.

A weed trimmer, an air conditioner, fishing poles and other items were taken from an unlocked garage in the 3700 block of South 34th Street between the evening of July 17 and 2 a.m. July 20.

THEFT

A resident in the 6400 block of West Norwich Avenue called police at 3 p.m. July 16 to report his girlfriend stole $100,000 from him. The man stated he gave the woman the money for an investment and he feels she is using it to pay for legal fees in a lawsuit that was filed against her. A police investigation is pending.

A driver left without paying for $54 in gas at Andy's, 4710 S. 108th St., shortly after 6:30 p.m. July 16.

A digital media player was taken from an unlocked vehicle in the 3000 block of West American Drive between 7:30 p.m. July 15 and 6 a.m. July 16.

A camera was taken from a vehicle parked in the 2800 block of West Edgerton Avenue between the evening of July 16 and 7 a.m. July 17.

A 24-year-old woman was arrested for shoplifting at Kmart, 4601 S. 27th St., at 4 p.m. July 17.

A bicycle was taken from a backyard in the 4100 block of West Mangold Avenue between 7 p.m. July 16 and 11 a.m. July 17.

A 20-year-old man was arrested for theft and prowling after he allegedly stole a glass gazing ball from a yard in the 4300 block of West Anthony Drive on July 15. He was also cited for operating while suspended.

Batteries were taken from two trucks behind Verlo Mattress, 6501 W. Layton Ave., between the evening of July 17 and 5:45 a.m. July 18.

A radio and golf clubs were taken from an unlocked vehicle in the 5400 block of South Honey Creek Drive between late evening July 17 and 6 a.m. July 18.

A 23-year-old woman and a 45-year-old woman were arrested for shoplifting at Kmart, 4601 S. 27th St., shortly after 4:30 p.m. July 18.

An air conditioner compressor was taken in the 6700 block of West Forest Home Avenue prior to 8:40 a.m. July 19.

A 66-year-old man was arrested for shoplifting at Pick 'n Save, 4279 S. 76th St., shortly after 4 p.m. July 19.

Four unidentified suspects shoplifted hair pieces from Sally Beauty Supply, 4260 S. 76th St., and fled the scene in a silver vehicle at 5:20 p.m. July 19. Police were unable to locate the suspects.

An unidentified male shoplifted shampoo at Kmart, 4601 S. 27th Street, then fled the area on foot at 9:15 p.m. July 19.

An 18-year-old man was arrested for shoplifting groceries at Pick 'n Save, 4279 S. 76th St., at 2:30 p.m. July 20.

Two unidentified females shoplifted $200 worth of baby formula at Pick 'n Save, 4279 S. 76th St., shortly after 5 p.m. July 20. The suspects fled northbound on South 76th Street in older, red SUV.

A woman reported her purse and car keys were taken while she was at Scuttlebutt's, 5175 S. 27th St., during the evening of July 20.

An unidentified male took a digital media player and a credit card from a vehicle in the parking lot at Old Country Buffet, 4902 S. 74th St., at 2:15 p.m. July 21. The suspect, described as a Hispanic man in his 20s, 5 feet 8 inches tall with a thin build, short black hair and wearing a black Tt-shirt and baggy pants, was attempting to take the radio out of the dashboard when the car owner approached the vehicle. He fled the scene in a white Ford Escape and was last seen entering Interstate 43/894 eastbound from South 76th Street.

Money was taken from an employee's purse at BP, 4715 S. 27th St., prior to 4 p.m. July 21.

The driver of an older model SUV took a construction barricade from the roadway in the 5300 block of West Whitaker Avenue at 2 a.m. July 22.

A five-horsepower outboard motor and a three-gallon gas tank were taken in the 5100 block of South Honey Creek Drive between 4 p.m. July 19 and 11 a.m. July 22.

A catalytic converter was taken off a car in the 7500 block of West Edgerton Avenue prior to 9 p.m. July 22.

DRUG POSSESSION

A 25-year-old man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and shoplifting at Aldi, 4615 W. Layton Ave., shortly after 8 p.m. July 19.

A 27-year-old man was arrested for possession of synthetic marijuana during a traffic stop in the 4200 block of West Layton Avenue at 10:20 p.m. July 19.

DRUNKEN DRIVING

A 32-year-old woman was arrested for drunken driving (third offense) and cited for hindering and disorderly conduct in the 6100 block of South 27th Street shortly after 2 a.m. July 16. She was taken to a hospital for a blood draw, the results of which were unavailable.

A 31-year-old man was arrested for drunken driving (third offense) and cited for operating after revocation (third offense) in the 4300 block of West Forest Home Avenue at 12:50 a.m. July 17. He was taken to the hospital for a blood draw, the results of which were unavailable.

A 35-year-old man was arrested for drunken driving in the parking lot at George Webb, 6231 S. 27th St., shortly after midnight July 18. His preliminary blood alcohol content was unavailable.

A 35-year-old man who arrived at the Greenfield Police Station, 5300 W. Layton Ave., to apparently pick up a person previously arrested for drunken driving was himself arrested for drunken driving at 5:50 a.m. July 21. The suspect was observed attempting to open a door in back of the police department, then fell and had difficulty breathing. He was taken to a hospital for evaluation and then taken into custody. His preliminary BAC was unavailable.

A 53-year-old man was arrested for drunken driving and cited for prohibited alcohol content and littering on 27th Street and Howard Avenue at 8 p.m. July 21. His BAC was unavailable.

VANDALISM

An 18-year-old man and a male juvenile were arrested for graffiti vandalism behind Christ United Methodist Church, 5200 S. 48th St., at 7 p.m. July 22.

OTHER

A 22-year-old man was cited for possessing three fake IDs during a traffic stop in the 5900 block of West Layton Avenue shortly before 6:30 p.m. July 22.

Greenfield police responded to two domestic violence incidents and assisted with four rescue calls and two fire calls between July 16 and July 22.
