Police Report: Jan. 17

Police responded to a burglar alarm at Car-X Auto Service, 7500 W. Layton Ave., and found a rear door had been forcibly pried open shortly before 2 a.m. Jan. 11. Nothing was stolen or appeared disturbed.

A resident in the 5000 block of West Colonial Court reported her purse was stolen off her kitchen table between the late evening hours of Jan. 12 and early morning hours of Jan. 13.

A back door lock was damaged in what appeared to be an attempted break-in at a business in the 9200 block of Carpenter Avenue prior to 10:50 a.m. Jan. 13. The caller told police it appeared someone took a screwdriver and pounded the lock, making it impossible for him to use his key to open the door.


An employee reported her Coach purse was stolen from Our Lady of the Angels, 3995 S. 92nd St., between 6:30 and 11 a.m. Jan. 7.

A coin box was broken into and an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen at Welks Automotive, 8333 W. Layton Ave., between the late evening hours of Jan. 8 and early morning hours of Jan. 9.

A 24-year-old man was arrested for shoplifting after an employee at Target, 4777 S. 27th St., called police to alert them a suspect from an earlier shoplifting incident had returned to the store shortly before noon Jan. 9. While watching the individual until officers arrived, the employee saw him hiding more merchandise. The suspect was taken into custody and taken to the county jail facility.

Seventeen reflectors on white fiberglass stakes, valued at $35 each, were stolen from several yards in the 4200 block of South 121st Street between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. Jan. 9.

More than 14 fiberglass stakes with blue reflectors, valued at $28 each, were stolen from residences in the 12000 block of West Plainfield Avenue between 5:30 and 7 p.m. Jan. 9.

Reflectors on white fiberglass stakes were stolen from a residence in the 4100 block of South 121st Street prior to 8:15 p.m. Jan. 9.

A 21-year-old man was arrested for shoplifting Red Bull and a doughnut at Pick 'n Save, 4279 S. 76th St., at 3:50 p.m. Jan. 10.

A 28-year-old woman was arrested for shoplifting makeup at Pick 'n Save, 4279 S. 76th St., at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 10.

A member's purse was reported stolen at Cardinal Fitness, 8401 W. Layton Ave., at 8:47 p.m. Jan. 10.

A 53-year-old woman reported her purse was stolen and her credit cards were used fraudulently in Milwaukee while she was shopping at Kmart, 4601 S. 27th St., at 9:50 p.m. Jan. 10.

Tires and metal/steel items were reported stolen from the yard of a residence in the 3800 block of West Howard Avenue at 1:55 p.m. Jan. 11.

An employee reported a plow and tailgate were stolen off one plow truck and a salter was stolen from a second plow truck at Kmart, 4201 S. 27th St., at 2:15 p.m. Jan. 12.

A digital media player was reported stolen from Whitnall High School, 5000 S. 116th St., at 3:22 p.m. Jan. 12.

At 9:40 a.m. Jan. 13, a caller reported his license plate was stolen off his vehicle while parked at Klemmer's, 10401 W. Oklahoma Ave., on Dec. 26. The stolen plate is apparently being used on a vehicle involved in gas drive-offs in West Allis.


An employee reported a bag of drugs was discovered in a bathroom at Walmart, 4500 S. 108th St., at 2:18 p.m. Jan. 9.

A 20-year-old woman was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop on 92nd Street and Layton Avenue at 12:30 a.m. Jan. 14.


A 62-year-old man was arrested for drunken driving in the 5400 block of South 27th Street at 7:45 p.m. Jan. 9. His blood alcohol content was 0.15.

A 25-year-old man was arrested for drunken driving in the 5400 block of West Forest Home Avenue at 1:19 a.m. Jan. 10. His BAC was not available.

A 22-year-old woman was arrested for drunken driving on 47th Street and Forest Home Avenue at 1:51 a.m. Jan. 10. Her BAC was 0.17.

A 59-year-old man was arrested for drunken driving after he was shot with a Taser by police and taken into custody on 69th Street and Layton Avenue at 8:12 p.m. Jan. 11. He was also charged with resisting an officer and carrying a concealed weapon.

A 25-year-old woman was arrested for drugged driving in the 4700 block of South 27th Street at 12:45 a.m. Jan. 12. She was also taken into custody for an outstanding warrant with the Greendale Police Department.

A 28-year-old man was arrested for drunken driving after a caller reported a man sleeping behind the wheel of his car at Loomis Road and Howard Avenue at 5:53 a.m. Jan. 14. His BAC was unavailable.

A 34-year-old man was arrested for drunken driving in the 4200 block of South 76th Street at 5:45 a.m. Jan. 15. He was also cited for operating a vehicle after suspension. His BAC was unavailable.


An 18-year-old Greenfield man was arrested for hit and run after his car struck another vehicle and pushed it into a light pole at 68th Street and Layton Avenue at 5:18 p.m. Jan. 12. The suspect was found by the Greendale Police Department and was taken into custody. Two juvenile passengers in the suspect's vehicle were arrested for obstructing an officer.

A 34-year-old Oak Creek woman driving southbound on South 27th Street was injured after her car was struck by another vehicle trying to change lanes about 200 feet south of West Grange Avenue at 4:06 p.m. Jan. 12. The driver of the striking vehicle, a 20-year-old Milwaukee man, was cited for driving too fast for conditions and failure to have control of a vehicle.


Two locked cars were damaged during theft attempts in the 3500 block of South 31st Street prior to 4 p.m. Jan. 9. Nothing was reported missing from the vehicles.

Graffiti was spray-painted on a "No Parking" sign in the 3600 block of South 56th Street prior to 11:25 a.m. Jan. 12.


A 24-year-old man was arrested for physical abuse to a child in the 3000 block of West Cold Spring Road at 2:47 p.m. Jan. 11. Police arrested the suspect after they found a 16-year-old male at the residence with contusions on his head, apparently caused by hitting his head against concrete.

A caller reported a suspicious person sitting on a bench, motionless, with a black garbage bag covering his torso in the 6800 block of West Layton Ave. at 6:43 a.m. Jan. 12. Officers discovered the "person" was a decoration and advised the caller.


Police responded to a report of smoke on the second floor of a residence in the 5000 block of South Greenbrook Terrace at 1:20 p.m. Jan. 11. The smoke was caused by a stove fire and quickly extinguished.

Greenfield police responded to three domestic violence calls and assisted with three rescue calls and two fire calls between Jan. 9 and Jan. 15.
