BURGLARY

A 30-year-old woman was arrested for burglary after a resident returned home and found her going through property in his garage in the 4400 block of South 60th Street shortly after midnight Aug. 26. The resident chased the suspect out of his garage, cornered her, and held her until police arrived and took her into custody.

THEFT

Several rings and a necklace were taken from a residence in the 3900 block of South 43rd Street between Aug. 14 and Aug. 19.

Copper piping was taken from the new Walmart under construction at 10600 W. Layton Ave. between the evening of Aug. 17 and 10:20 a.m. Aug. 20.

A 30-year-old woman was arrested for shoplifting $79 worth of makeup at Pick 'n Save, 4279 S. 76th St., at 3:15 p.m. Aug. 20.

A bag containing a handgun and other items was taken from a vehicle at Sports Authority, 5070 S. 74th St., prior to 5:40 p.m. Aug. 20. The gun was later found under the front passenger seat of a rental car towed to Enterprise Rental by Greenfield police on Aug. 23.

A 28-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were arrested for shoplifting after they were seen concealing items at Kmart, 4601 S. 27th St., shortly before 8 p.m. Aug. 20. The suspects fled the store and were taken into custody at Suburban Motel.

A 2002 Dodge was taken from the 3400 block of South 50th Place shortly after 6 a.m. Aug. 21. The car was located, without its license plates, in the 5100 block of North 32nd Street in Milwaukee at 5:20 p.m. and returned to its owner.

A gas grill was taken in the 6800 block of West Holmes Avenue prior to 8:15 a.m. Aug. 21.

Two female juveniles were arrested after they shoplifted hair color, then ditched it under a vehicle in the parking lot at Walgreens, 4296 S. 76th St., at 3:15 p.m. Aug. 21.

Two 26-year-old men were arrested for shoplifting three four-packs of energy drinks, three energy packs, and four four-packs of batteries at Speedway, 3390 W. Loomis Road, shortly before 7 p.m. Aug. 21.

A 2003 silver-and-blue Trek Navigator 200 bicycle was taken from a storage locker at an apartment complex in the 6100 block of West Howard Avenue prior to 7 p.m. Aug. 21.

A 25-year-old woman was arrested for shoplifting after she was seen concealing items in a hamper she brought into TJ Maxx, 4200 S. 76th St., at 8:20 p.m. Aug. 21.

A 25-year-old man was arrested for employee theft at Pick 'n Save, 4279 S. 76th St., at 2:50 p.m. Aug. 22.

An unidentified person shoplifted several purses at TJ Maxx, 4200 S. 76th St., on Aug. 22.

A 54-year-old man was arrested for attempting to shoplift numerous items at Kmart, 4601 S. 27th St., at 2:15 p.m. Aug. 23. The man fled in an SUV and was stopped by police at West Loomis Road and West Layton Avenue, where he was taken into custody.

A 24-year-old man was arrested for shoplifting a video game wireless network adapter at Target, 4500 S. 108th St., shortly before 3 p.m. Aug. 23. He was also found to have an open warrant with the Franklin Police Department and was taken into custody.

Two digital media players were taken in the 6900 block of West Forest Home Avenue between the evening of Aug. 23 and early morning Aug. 24.

A CD player, three packs of cigarettes and $5 in change were taken from a locked car in the 4400 block of South 108th Street between 1 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. Aug. 24.

An unidentified couple took a pair of women's gray and purple Nike shoes at Rogan's Shoes, 4350 S. 76th St., shortly after 7 p.m. Aug. 24. The suspects, described as a black male and female in their late 30s, fled in a black Chrysler.

A registration sticker was taken off a vehicle parked in the 3400 block of West Lynndale Avenue between 1:30 p.m. Aug. 25 and 7 a.m. Aug. 26.

DRUG POSSESSION

A 30-year-old was arrested for possession of narcotics in the 3900 block of South Sunset Square at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 21.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested for possession of marijuana in the 4400 block of South 68th Street at 12:40 a.m. Aug. 23.

A 29-year-old man was arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and eluding police in the 5600 block of West Cold Spring Road at 8 p.m. Aug. 23.

DRUNKEN DRIVING

A 49-year-old woman was arrested for drunken driving (fifth offense) and cited for operating after revocation and tampering with an ignition interlock device in the 6200 block of West Cold Spring Road shortly after 11 p.m. Aug. 23. She refused blood alcohol testing and was taken to the hospital for a blood draw, the result of which was unavailable.

A 39-year-old man was arrested for drunken driving and hit-and-run after he struck another vehicle, then rolled his car on Layton Avenue and Loomis Road at 2:20 a.m. Aug. 24. His preliminary blood alcohol content was unavailable.

ACCIDENTS

A 48-year-old Milwaukee man was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries after he collided with a car attempting to make a left turn in front of his vehicle on South 74th Street and West Layton Avenue shortly after 3 p.m. Aug. 20. The driver of the other vehicle, a 42-year-old Milwaukee woman, was cited for failure to yield the right of way.

VANDALISM

Numerous nails were placed in the driveway at the Greenfield Police Department, 5300 West Layton Ave., prior to 10 p.m. Aug. 20.

A resident in the 6400 block of West Norwich Avenue reported her vehicle was scratched with a key at 2:10 p.m. Aug. 21. The victim told police she had an argument with a neighbor the day before about the neighbor's car being scratched by a relative of hers, and this morning she noticed her vehicle had been scratched.

Four tires were slashed on a car parked at Mt. Carmel, 5700 W. Layton Ave., between 10 p.m. Aug. 23 and 10:30 a.m. Aug. 24.

An 18-year-old man was arrested for vandalism after he took a stop sign at 67th Street and Holmes Avenue at 12:30 a.m. Aug. 26.

Several windows were broken at Boyland Honda, 6141 S. 27th St., prior to 8 a.m. Aug. 26.

OTHER

An 18-year-old man was arrested for prowling and underage drinking and two boys, ages 16 and 17, were arrested for prowling in the 3100 block of West Kimberly Avenue at 2:30 a.m. Aug. 21. The three suspects were arrested after one of them rang the doorbell at a house and told the resident, "This is all I have," before showing him some headphones and walking away.

Officers responding to a report of a shirtless man knocking on a patio door in the 3100 block of West Kimberly Avenue arrested a 28-year-old man for prowling shortly after 6 a.m. Aug. 21.

Officers responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked outside an apartment building in the 3100 block of West Mangold Avenue found a deceased 58-year-old man in the driver's seat of the car shortly after 11 a.m. Aug. 22. The Greenfield Fire Department was notified and responded to the scene.

A 20-year-old man was arrested for prowling, underage drinking and resisting arrest after he tried to force his way into a residence in the 6900 block of West Allerton Avenue at 11:15 p.m. Aug. 22.

A 27-year-old man was cited for a noise ordinance violation after he was heard sounding his horn and yelling threats towards neighbors on 32nd Street and St. Francis Avenue shortly before 3 a.m. Aug. 26.

Officers responded to a report of two females throwing items and causing a disturbance at Party City, 5058 S. 74th St., at 3:50 p.m. Aug. 26. The two women apparently wanted numerous balloons filled with helium became upset when an employee told them they could only fill a maximum of 12 balloons due to a helium shortage. One of the women was gone when police arrived, and the other woman was advised to leave the store.

Greenfield police responded to one domestic violence call and assisted with four rescue calls and one fire call between Aug. 20 and Aug. 26.
