Women arrested for

fight on Summerfest bus

Two sisters from Franklin were arrested after they started throwing punches at passengers on a bus returning from Summerfest on June 27.

Greenfield police arrested the suspects, ages 19 and 22, after seeing the older sister clearly punching another rider in the back of the bus while it drove into the Hales Corners Park-and-Ride, 4800 S. 108th Street, at 12:30 a.m.

According to witnesses, the victims were on the bus with a group of friends, did not know the suspects and had not been arguing with the women. But during questioning, the suspects, who both admitted punching two other riders, claimed they heard the group make disparaging comments about the suspects' juvenile sister, who was also riding on the bus.

One of the victims received minor injuries but refused ambulance transport to the hospital. Both women were arrested for battery and taken into custody.
