Residents begin receiving new trash carts
Greenfield - This week new garbage and recycling carts are starting to arrive at Greenfield homes, but residents shouldn't use them just yet.
On Jan.1, Greenfield will begin a five-year residential garbage and recycling contract with Johns Disposal Service of Whitewater. This contract will serve residential properties of four units or less.
The new carts, which will be delivered throughout the month, shouldn't be used until after the last refuse collection in December.
The new carts will be picked up by an automated arm mounted on new trucks that have been purchased to serve Greenfield customers.

Sendik's donates 2 trucks of food, cash for hungry
Greenfield - Sendik's Food Markets donated 58,000 pounds of food, filling two semi-trailers, and more than $44,000 to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, 1700 W. Fond Du Lac Ave.
This was the fourth consecutive year Sendik's has delivered a holiday donation to Feeding America.
Sendik's customers were part of the effort, as every person who did the chicken dance at the "Do the Cluck, Fill the Truck" event in October earned a Sendik's donation of five meals to Feeding America. Customers also donated toward the cause.
With the help of customers, the Balistreri-owned-and-operated grocery stores also gathered donations from August through October with a variety of in-store activities including donating 100 percent of the proceeds from Sendik's Real Food Magazine, Backpack Buddies and a mac & cheese promotion.
The 10 Balistreri-owned Sendik's grocery stores are in Greenfield, Whitefish Bay, Wauwatosa, Mequon, Grafton, Elm Grove, Franklin, Germantown, New Berlin and West Bend.
