Greenfield plans several holiday events

Nov. 29, 2011 | 0 comments

Greenfield - Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in Greenfield on Dec. 10 just to say hello to local youngsters, pose for pictures and be part of the city's tree-lighting celebration.

The event will be from noon to 1 p.m. at the Greenfield City Hall, 7325 W. Forest Home Ave.

In addition to the visit from the Christmas couple, the tree-lighting will feature holiday music, cookies and hot chocolate. It will follow the Brunch with Santa, an event which is already sold out.

The tree lighting isn't the only holiday celebration the city is throwing.

New Year's Eve will have two firsts, both offered by the Greenfield Parks and Recreation Department. A New Year's Eve party for all ages will offer music by a DJ, dancing and comedy, plus photos taken against a variety of backdrops. Partiers also will get to explore New Year's Eve customs from around the world.

And in the crafts corner, participants can make party hats, masks and even noisemakers.

Pizza, snacks and beverages will be served.

The party will be at the Greenfield Community Center, 7215 W. Cold Spring Road, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 31. The cost is $7, free for children younger than 3.

Earlier in the day, the Community Center will be the venue for the first Eddie Cash New Year's Eve Noon Show and Lunch. The concert and show will follow the buffet lunch. The reservations deadline is Dec. 20 and the cost is $35. The event will be from 11:30 to 3 p.m.

More information on both of these offerings is available at the recreation office, (414) 329-5370.
