Greenfeld indoor play area now challenges older kids
Business features indoor cave that appears to dive through a volcano
Greenfield — Kids love it and want to go again, parents who crawl through the 100 feet of indoor "cave" say it's a workout and are usually ready to sit out the next round, said Lidia Saypanya, who owns Bounce Realm and its new addition, Adventures, that opened recently.
She and her husband, Thouy, founded Bounce Realm, 4595 S. 27th St., in 2010. Bounce Realm is packed with inflatables for kids to bounce on and slide down and there are even inflatable obstacle courses. It also has more than 37 video games, kiddie rides, a mini-movie theater and a cafe.
But the couple wanted more for older kids, and Adventures was born.
The indoor cave that looks like it dives through a volcano is a highlight. Kids strap on helmets with lights on the front and crawl into the up-and-down cave that's five chambers high and three chambers wide. Parents are welcome to go, too, if they are not taller than 6 feet 1 inch, not more than 200 pounds and not more than 36 inches around.
They usually come out remarking, "Wow, what a workout," Saypanya said. "The children absolutely love it."
Other Adventures entertainment highlights are space wars type shooting at a screen where asteroids hurtle past, archery where beginners are taught how to shoot and remote control car racing with foot-long rally cars buzzing around a realistic-looking track.
Adventures and the original Bounce Realm are open to the public and can be reserved for parties.
City officials applaud the expansion.
"It's going to provide a new dimension of healthy entertainment for children," said Richard Sokol, director of neighborhood services. "We encourage children being actively involved in play and this will be a positive thing for Greenfield."
This is the couple's first business. Thouy is a manager in the aerospace technology field, and Lidia who runs the business has worked in the private and public sectors.
The inspiration for the business came from a trip to Texas where the couple saw how much their son and other children loved an inflatables entertainment facility they visited.
