Greenfield police issued an alert to neighboring communities after two residents were approached by a possible prowler in a west-side neighborhood on Nov. 16.
According to the police report:
A resident in the 10300 block of West Howard Avenue called police at about 10:05 a.m. after an unidentified man stopped at his residence with alleged car troubles and asked him about car repairs. The resident told police he directed the man to a local garage and then went inside his house. When he looked outside he saw the suspect walking out of his garage, which the resident had left open.
The suspect quickly got into a black, four-door Oldsmobile Aurora and left the area. The resident told police he was unable to determine if anything was missing from his garage.
About 10 minutes later, Greenfield dispatch received a call from a resident in the 10300 block of West Pallotine Drive, who stated that a man backed his black, four-door vehicle into the resident's driveway. When the resident confronted the suspect, the suspect stated he needed gas before driving away from the residence.
The suspect is described as a black male in his mid-20s, who was last seen wearing an Air Jordan black knit hat and black clothing and driving a black Oldsmobile Aurora or Alero with front passenger-side damage.
