Suspected iPad thieves arrested after car chase in Greenfield

Two men are facing charges after alledgedly shoplifting more than $7,500 worth of merchandise at Best Buy, then leading Greenfield police on high-speed chase about 2:45 p.m. Nov. 7.

According to Greenfield police:

Store security from the store, 4610 S. 76th St., reported that the men had just loaded a cart full of iPads and video games and fled out the door with the unpaid merchandise.

Officers arrived while the suspects were loading the stolen merchandise into a car. One suspect fled on foot while the other sped away in the car, and a police pursued it. The pursuit was terminated at Layton Avenue and Loomis Road after police found the suspect vehicle abandoned at the Loomis Professional Building in the 4600 block of West Loomis Road.

The driver, a 24-year-old Milwaukee man, was located at Ray's Butcher Shop and taken into custody. The second suspect who fled on foot, a 25-year-old Milwaukee man, was found at the FedEx store in the 4700 block of South 76th Street, where he was taken into custody.

The two men are facing charges of felony retail theft and eluding an officer.
