Police Report: Jan. 10

ROBBERY

The owner of the Golden Key Motel, 3600 S. 108th St., called to report two unidentified suspects struck a room occupant with the butt of a gun and took medication at 11:02 p.m. Jan. 6. A witness described the suspects as two black makes wearing masks and driving a gray SUV. Police are investigating.

A man was accosted by a teen male who demanded all of his money as he got off a bus at South 27th Street and West Layton Avenue shortly before 5:45 p.m. Jan. 7. The victim described the teen as black, wearing a black hoodie, a black hat, Army-style fatigue pants and boots. When the victim refused to hand over his money, the suspect reached into his pocket, at which point the intended victim fled into a nearby Kmart where security had him call police. The suspect was not found on the bus. Police are investigating.

BURGLARY

Three Coach purses and numerous items of clothing were taken from a residence in the 3700 block of South 46th Place between Nov. 19 and 9:05 pm. Jan. 3.

THEFT

Two rim and tires were taken from a vehicle on a jack at Progressive Auto Service Center, 3442 S. 103rd St., prior to 11:18 a.m. Jan. 2.

An 18-year-old man was arrested for shoplifting two deodorant sticks at Pick 'n Save, 4279 S. 76th St., at 8:57 p.m. Jan. 2.

The driver of a silver minivan left without paying for $25 of gas at Speedway, 4265 S. 60th St., at 7:45 a.m. Jan. 4.

A 43-year-old man was arrested for shoplifting a digital media player at Best Buy, 4610 S. 76th St., at 1:45 p.m. Jan. 4.

A 20-year-old woman was arrested for employee/internal theft after she took clothing from Kmart, 4601 S. 27th St., at 6:27 p.m. Jan. 4.

A resident in the 4600 block of South 49th Street reported his grandson took his credit card and used it to make fraudulent charges prior to 11:19 a.m. Jan. 5.

A 16-year-old male was arrested for retail theft after he drove off without paying for $30 of gas at Speedway, 4265 S. 60th St., at 7:28 a.m. Jan. 6. While in custody, the suspect was issued a second retail theft citation after it was determined he was also responsible for a gas drive-off at 1 p.m. Dec. 27 at the same location.

A 31-year-old man was arrested for shoplifting after he was observed concealing merchandise in his pants at Best Buy, 4610 S. 76th St., at 2:55 p.m. Jan. 6.

The driver of a black Nissan left without paying for an unknown amount of gas at Speedway, 4265 S. 60th St., at 9:29 a.m. Jan. 7.

An 18-year-old woman was arrested for shoplifting cosmetics and hair care products at Kmart, 4601 S. 27th St., at 3:15 p.m. Jan. 7.

DRUG POSSESSION

A 21-year-old man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop in the 5900 block of South 27th Street at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 2.

A 19-year-old man was arrested for possession of marijuana and cocaine during a traffic stop in the 5000 block of West Forest Home Avenue at 1:12 p.m. Jan. 3.

A 22-year-old man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop on South 108th Street and West Howard Avenue at 7:58 p.m. Jan. 4.

A 21-year-old man was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the 3300 block of West Loomis Road at 1:53 a.m. Jan. 6.

A 22-year-old man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop on South 108th Street and West Howard Avenue at 5:25 p.m. Jan. 8.

A 20-year-old woman was arrested for possession of marijuana during a traffic stop on South 60th Street and West Layton Avenue at 8:45 p.m. Jan. 7.

A 58-year-old man was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop in the 3800 block of West Cold Spring Road at 10:47 p.m. Jan. 7.

DRUNKEN DRIVING

A 49-year-old man was arrested for drunken driving on South 27th Street and Rawson Avenue at 11:12 Jan. 4. The suspect refused field sobriety and blood alcohol testing. A juvenile passenger in his car was also arrested and cited for obstructing an officer.

A 48-year-old man was arrested for drunken driving, third offense, after he was seen driving the wrong way on South 35th Street and eventually stopped his car in the middle of the street on West Loomis Road at West Cold Spring Road at 6:57 p.m. Jan. 8. He was taken to the hospital for a blood draw, the results of which were unavailable.

ACCIDENTS

A 32-year-old Franklin woman was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries after a car veered across the center lane and collided with her vehicle head-on in the 4100 block of South 43rd Street shortly before 7 a.m. Jan. 2. The driver of the striking vehicle, a 19-year-old Greenfield man, was cited for inattentive driving and was also transported to the hospital with injuries.

VANDALISM

Graffiti was spray-painted on the southeast exterior door at Glenwood School, 3550 S. 51st St., between 6 p.m. Jan. 3 and 7 a.m. Jan. 4.

Tires were slashed on a vehicle parked in the 6100 block of West Cold Spring Road prior to 9:45 a.m. Jan. 8.

OTHER

A property manager at 3908 W. Howard Avenue called police at 11:48 am. Jan. 2 to report a case of animal neglect by a tenant, who left a dog behind after vacating the property on Dec. 26. The dog was found on in the vacant apartment, eating its own feces to stay alive. It was turned over to the former tenant, a 31-year-old Greenfield woman, who was issued a citation for cruelty to animals.

Greenfield police responded to three domestic violence calls and assisted with one rescue call and one fire call between Jan. 2 and Jan. 8.
