Holz's 100th win highlights Falls' grapplers triumph over WA Central

Dec. 18, 2013 10:08 p.m. | Wrestling up a weight class, wrestler Bill Holz recorded his 100th career win Wednesday night for Menomonee Falls with a technical fall at 126 pounds.

More importantly, Holz, who happily posed with teammates for pictures with a sign commemorating the event, started a five-match win streak for the Indians against always tough West Allis Central, and that keyed a pivotal 40-22 Greater Metro Conference dual meet victory over the always tough Bulldogs.

"This was an important (team) win," he said. "If we'd have lost, we'd have been out of the league race, because aside from (West Allis) Hale, they're the biggest challenge we'll face this year (in GMC duals).

(As far as the weight classes go) It's kind of interesting. We're all taking our turns and moving around a lot."

And that's the way it's going to be most of the season said Falls coach Jim McMahon, as the Indians look to defend their Greater Metro title.

Rebuffed at store, man with walker uses trash can instead of toilet

Dec. 11, 2013 9:10 a.m. | An employee at Jens Beverage, 4312 W. Howard Ave., called 911 to report an older man had just defecated in the business' parking lot at 6:10 p.m. Dec. 3.

After the employee informed the man that the store does not allow anybody to use their restrooms, the man explained that he could not hold it any longer and asked for some toilet paper.

After the employee refused to give him toilet paper, the man walked outside, defecated in the garbage can, and then left the lot in a car.

Police attempted to make contact with the registered owner of the car but were unsuccessful.

Greendale's Josh Ringelberg named NOW Football Player of the Year

Dec. 06, 2013 8:04 a.m. | Greendale quarterback Josh Ringelberg is quick to credit his teammates, but there was no doubt of the offensive impact the dual-threat junior had this season.

Ringelberg has been voted the NOW All-Suburban Football Player of the Year after throwing for 41 touchdowns and running for 10. He led the Panthers to the Division 3 state finals, where he threw for a record 270 yards, including a record 97-yard toss to Nate Miller.

Ringelberg is joined on the team by Homestead's Dave Keel, the NOW All-Suburban Football Coach of the Year. Keel, a perennial contender for the award, garnered it for the first time after leading the Highlanders to an 11-1 mark despite losing the bulk of his 2012 state title team to graduation.
