City offers places to escape heat

July 19, 2011 10:00 p.m. | With the National Weather Service issuing an extreme heat warning for the area through Friday, Greenfield has opened several cooling stations where residents can go to escape the heat.

The locations, open for this purpose until Friday, are:

The Greenfield Public Library, 5310 W. Layton Ave., open from 10 a.m. 8:30 p.m. through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday.

The Greenfield Community Center, 7215 W. Cold Spring Road (the former library), open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Greenfield Police Department, 5300 W. Layton Ave., community room, open 24 hours.
