"Fall" Into Our Library - Week of October 8

Storytime, Mr. Mark, Voting, Book Club, Tail Waggin' Tutor, Help, Mini-Subject

Greetings Greenfield Library Patrons!

It’s been a little while, but the blog is back and we will try our best to update our entries weekly that you may get the latest information on library events.

*Our monthly adult book club will meet on Wednesday, October 10 at 7:00 PM to discuss One Day by David Nicholls.  A unique novel that was turned into a movie in 2011, One Day follows protagonists Dexter and Emma through a spiral of friendship, love, and all that goes between.  We’ll stop there since we don’t want to give away too much.  All are welcome.

*Fall story hours have begun with the theme Animals on Parade.  Join Mr. Mark as each week a new animal is featured in the stories.  Story-times will take place in the story corner of the Children’s Library.  The program runs through the end of November.

The story times are:

Mondays 6:30 PM

Tuesdays 10:30 AM

Thursdays 4:00 PM

Register with a librarian at a reference desk a time you and yours would like to come or register at the following link: http://www.greenfieldlibrary.org/index.asp?Type=DYNAFORM&SEC={9B11F369-BDB0-4B0A-B2FE-BAF908A38E05}

*Do you have a child or grandchild that has trouble reading or expressing themselves out loud?  You and your child can make an appointment to come practice reading aloud to “Puzzle,” our patient, gentle, non-judgmental, listening dog as part of our “Tail Waggin’ Tutor” program.  Please call or stop by GPL to speak with a librarian to schedule an appointment.

*Election Day is almost here!  For October, the Greenfield Public Library staff has set up a Political Musings Collection to get you ready for November 6.  Included in the collection are many new books and DVDs related to the Presidency and other political topics.  Come pick up a brochure with information on voter registration, polling locations, political races and more.  Don’t forget that if you are resident of the City of Greenfield you CAN register to vote at the library.  Please come see the Political Musings Collection, located across from the holds and near our music collection.

*Finally, as a special feature for the blog, we will be highlighting a themed mini-collection to show the vastness of Greenfield Public Library’s collection, relevant to the time of year it is posted.  This week, we draw attention to a culinary favorite…

October is National Pizza Month

Whether you like loading it with meat, vegetables, odd ingredients, or just plain ol’ cheese, pizza has become an American obsession beloved by the masses.  To celebrate this delicious creation, October has been deemed National Pizza Month; 31 days of mozzarella bliss.  In celebration, Greenfield Public Library offers its own slice of books about the famous Italian staple.
