State Senator Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin) represents parts of four counties: Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, and Walworth. Her Senate District 28 includes New Berlin, Franklin, Greendale, Hales Corners, Muskego, Waterford, Big Bend, the town of Vernon and parts of Greenfield, East Troy, and Mukwonago. Senator Lazich has been in the Legislature for more than a decade. She considers herself a tireless crusader for lower taxes, reduced spending and smaller government.
Construction On Hold During Labor Day Weekend
The orange road construction barrels will not be going away; however, road construction will be put on hold this weekend. According to a state Department of Transportation press release, most road construction will cease at noon Friday, September 2, and will not resume until 6:00 AM Monday, September 6.
Attorney General to Host Seminars on Public Records and Open Meetings Laws
The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) will be holding seminars about the public records and open meetings laws. Registration for the free seminars may be completed via the DOJ's website at http://www.doj.state.wi.us/ beginning September 6, 2011. Space is limited for the online seminar so please register early.
The live programs on public records and open meetings laws is scheduled October 3, 2011, at Waukesha County Technical College, Richard T. Anderson Education Center 800 Main Street, Pewaukee, from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM, and October 10, 2011, at Warner Park Recreation Center, Community Center Room, 1625 Northport Drive, Madison, from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM. The webinar, an interactive audio-visual presentation viewed live over the Internet from a personal computer, will be October 20, 2011 from 9 AM- 12 PM.

AT&T announced adding more than 100 jobs throughout Wisconsin to support expanding U-Verse television service.

National Guard to Assist Northwoods Clean Up Effort
Governor Walker has called up the Wisconsin National Guard to assist clean up efforts in northern Wisconsin after powerful storms during July downed more than 130,000 acres of timber.
The National Guard will assist local governments clear debris, fallen limbs, and tree trunks from right of ways. The blocked right of ways are a fire hazard and public safety concern.

BREAKING NEWS: Court Rules Mukwonago Can Keep Mascot
Waukesha County Circuit Judge Donald Hassin Jr. ruled Mukwonago High School may keep its school mascot. Judge Hassin ruled the 2010 state law allowing an employee of the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction to decide whether a mascot is discriminatory is unconstitutional.
