Lightning round tonight... Of the five children that My-Sugar-Na and I have raised, we now have the second one that worksi at the Fair! Go visit (Sponsor's Name Here)'s Official Daughter, Gooey, as she is the offical Bead Buddy maker at, well, I don't know where. But if someone is making crafts with beads, Gooey will be there to help. She looks like me, only, um, Gooier... The other one to work at the Fair was (Sponsor's Name Here)'s Official Stepson, Grizzly, who worked at Mojo's (that used to be Shakey's) the year after the Shakey's on National Ave closed... I do miss living close enough to the Fair to park cars on my lawn. That $750 per year was a nice adder to the Vegas bankroll... But for the six years we did park cars, we did so for all 11 days each year. And I can say unequivocally that I'd kill for a week with every day in the 70s or low 80s. The number of times we sweltered with days in the upper 80s with humidity... One other thing I don't recall is the severity of the storms that rolled through Friday evening. I remember a couple of washouts due to all-day rains, but severe storm events in the last seven years or so don't come to mind... This blog is much harder to populate than it was in the car parking era... The number of my Facebook friends that have been at the first two days of the Fair is off the charts... The number of my Facebook friends that have checked-in while seeing bands that I've never heard of is that same number... Are The Wonders playing the Fair this year?... Anyone see "Dammit Man" McNeil at the Fair this year working with the Milwaukee Wave? If so, ask him to return my calls... Does anyone follow the Packers?... I've said this in blogs done in a bygone era, but more than the money, the thing that got me really excited about the State Fair was always the buzz around the old neighborhood. Between neighbors, friends looking to bum a parking spot and the patrons getting excited about the upcoming day, it was just so cool... Another thing I don't get to see now that we're living a mile further away is what "stuff" is the hot item at the expo center... We're going on Tuesday, My-Sugar-Na says its time to replace a window cling with (another) Pomeranian one... I remember the first time that I remember going to the Fair. Maybe I was 7 or 8. My cousins (both over 18, which was the drinking age at the time) went on a Saturday night and brought me along. I was the third wheel. I remember being bored while they drank themselves silly. I don't know why I brought up that story... I like stories... Four days until I get to go to the Fair... Anyone notice that freebies are harder to come by this year?... My-Sugar-Na and I would each always buy a set of three tickets from Potawatomi each year that came with a $10 match play. Those aren't available this year... Can somebody name a sandwich I have to try this year?
