Nearly 200 Whitnall Middle School Students to Attend 'Courage Retreat'

Youth Frontiers, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that specializes in delivering programs to build positive school communities and help young people realize the importance of respecting themselves and others, will hold a courage retreat on Friday, Dec. 6, at 9 a.m., in the Whitnall High School gymnasium, 5000 S. 116th St., Greenfield.

Whitnall Park Rotary Club's Christmas Arts & Crafts Fair is Saturday

 The Whitnall Park Rotary Club's "Christmas Arts & Crafts Fair" is at Whitnall High School on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 9 a.m to 3 p.m. 

This annual event is one of the most popular holiday craft fairs in the entire Milwaukee area. 

The suggested entrance donation is $3 per adult for those age 12 and up. 

Enjoy the products of more than 200 crafters and "Breakfast with Santa" in the cafeteria, where a photographer will be available to take pictures of your child and Santa Claus.

Whitnall High School AP Spanish Students Making Special Donation

Whitnall High School AP Spanish students will be presenting the 16th Street Community Health Center, 2906 S. 20th St., Milwaukee, with a donation of food, clothing and hygienic items as part of a service learning project Wednesday, Dec. 11, at 9:30 a.m.

Whitnall Middle School Students Win VFW Essay Contest

A pair of Whitnall Middle School students were chosen as winners in the local round of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest.

Kayla Okus (pictured) turned in the first-place essay for VFW Post 12100, while Vicky Stockinger’s essay was picked as the winner for Post 6498.

Packers Great Gilbert Brown Part of Alyson Dudek Ice Center Opening Sunday

The Friends of Hales Corners Park & Pool will open the the first phase of the Alyson Dudek International Ice Center to the public during a grand-opening event at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15.

The ice rink will be located in Hales Corners Park near the basketball courts and Veterans Memorial and next to the Hales Corners Pool.

Whitnall Holiday Band to Perform at Oak Crest Villa Assisted Living Facility

The Whitnall Holiday Band, which consists of both middle and high school students, will give a special performance of holiday music to the assisted living residents at Oak Crest Villa, 8765 W. Forest Home Ave., Greenfield, on Thursday, Dec. 19, at 10 a.m.

Whitnall Middle School Student Gets a Surprise Visit From His Brother

Nothing says "holiday spirit" like the special surprise a Whitnall Middle School sixth-grader received Friday.

Before an all-school volleyball tournament, Matt Spangenberg and a classmate was chosen to present a special community member with a care package as part of a service project. Little did he know, that special community member was his older brother Kyle, a U.S. Marine, who had been away at boot camp for several months.
