This and That

I live in Greenfield with my husband and cat. I work full time. Frugality and simplicity have been a part of my life long before they became popular and it has made life a lot less stressful. I love volunteering, home improvement/decorating, crafting and gardening.

Integrity

Integrity according to Wikipedia "is a concept of consistency of actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations and outcomes.  In ethics, integrity is regarded as the honesty and truthfulness or accuracy of one's actions.  Integrity can be regarded as the opposite of hypocrisy, in that integrity regards internal consistency as a virtue, and suggests that parties holding apparently conflicting values should account for the discrepancy or alter their beliefs."

Amy Rees Anderson wrote an article about Integrity.  She states that Success will come and go, but Integrity is forever.  She says it means doing the right thing at all times and in all circumstances, whether or not anyone is watching.  It takes having the courage to do the right thing, no matter what the consequences will be.  Building a reputation of integrity takes years but it takes only a second to lose, so never allow yourself to ever do anything that would damage integrity.

Well, we all know people - including successful business persons, political figures, attorneys, police officers, judges, etc. who get by in life by being dishonest and not having integrity.  They cut corners or step on the backs of others to get to the top.  Or, they were born with silver spoons in their mouths and know nothing about how they should treat others.  (Let me say, not all priviledged people are like this.)

My husband recently was employed by an employer who lacks integrity and was mistreated.  This is not unusual in today's world but it had never happened to him before. He has been blessed in that he has found a new employer that does have integrity.

I prefer to make my way in life by being honest - which means, sometimes (but not always), I have to bite my tongue.

Therefore, I surround myself with people of integrity.

I believe my friends and family know that I would never damage my reputation due to lack of integrity.
